Beale AFB air show – California – June 2025

Information

On 7 and 8 June 2025, an air show is scheduled at Beale Air Force Base in California. Beale is home to the U-2 Dragon Lady fleet. With the U-2 slated for withdrawal in a couple of years, this is probably the last opportunity to see them at their home base.

We will fly from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City to spend two days in an area where we have not been before, Hill AFB and the Hill Aerospace museum are on the program. We will then continue to Los Angeles, from where we will drive to Sacramento and along the way make stops at, amongst others, NAS Lemoore (US Navy Hornets), Fresno (California Guard F-15s), Stockton (California Guard CH-47s), the former Castle AFB and several locations in  Sacramento. At the latter you should think of CalFire, with their unique firefighting aircraft, and the Aerospace Museum of California at the former McClellan AFB and an Army unit at Mather Airport. On Saturday and Sunday, it will be Beale AFB’s turn for the open days, after which we will return home from Sacramento on Monday 9 June 2025 to arrive there on Tuesday 10 June 2025.

Except for the open days, we will visit all the bases from the fence, no base visits. Again, a very nice, varied trip, we think with a number of bases/locations where we have not been before.

Itinerary

The itinerary that follows is to be considered as preliminary.

On Sunday 1 June 2025 we will fly to the USA and return to the Netherlands on Tuesday 10 June 2025.

The plan at this moment is as follows:

  • Sunday 1 June 2025: fly to Salt Lake City
  • Monday 2 June 2025: visit Hill AFB from outside
  • Tuesday 3 June 2025: visit Hill AFB and/or Hill Aerospace museum, fly to Los Angeles late afternoon
  • Wednesday 4 June 2025: visit NAS Lemoore from outside
  • Thursday 5 June 2025: visit locations in Fresno, Stockton, Castle Air Museum
  • Friday 6 June 2025: visit locations in Sacramento
  • Saturday 7 June 2025: visit show Beale AFB
  • Sunday 8 June 2025: visit show Beale AFB
  • Monday 9 June 2025: fly to the Netherlands and arrive next day in the morning

Tour cost

Price for this tour is € 2895,- per person. This price includes:

  • Flight from The Netherlands to the USA
  • Domestic flight in the USA
  • Flight from the USA to The Netherlands
  • Hotel accommodation (middle class hotels, twin share room basis, two beds and ensuite bathroom)
  • All transportation in the USA
  • € 9,- contribution to GGTO

You can also book this tour without the airline tickets. In that case you will have to take care of the transportation to and from the USA and within the USA. The price for the tour without airline tickets is € 1895,- per person. The single-room supplement for this tour is € 475,-.

Not included:

  • individual travel insurance
  • entrance fees for museums or airshows
  • all meals
  • all personal expenditures
