Information

The A-10 has outlived many budget cuts and is still very much part of the USAF. In 2024, another Hawgsmoke will be organised at Davis-Monthan AFB, starting at 11 September 2024. We will organise a tour to this exercise and the greater Tucson area of about a week length. We think this is a nice tour with a lot of variety.

We have run this tour before in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018.

Itinerary

The itinerary that follows is to be considered as preliminary.

On Sunday 8 September we will fly to the USA and return to the Netherlands on Sunday 15 September 2024.

During the tour we will spend a couple of days at the Hawgsmoke exercise at Davis Monthan AFB and can also have a look at Luke AFB, MCAS Yuma, NAF El Centro, Tucson IAP. We will try to arrange visits, but these bases are also very good from outside the fence.

Tour cost

Price for this tour is € 2099,- per person. This price includes:

  • Flight from The Netherlands to the USA
  • Flight from the USA to The Netherlands
  • Hotel accommodation (middle class hotels, twin share room basis, two beds and ensuite bathroom)
  • All transportation in the USA
  • € 9,- contribution to GGTO

You can also book this tour without the airline tickets. In that case you will have to take care of the transportation to and from the USA. The price for the tour without airline tickets is € 1399,- per person. The single-room supplement for this tour is € 250,-.

  • individual travel insurance
  • entrance fees for museums or airshows
