Information
At the end of 2024 it was announced that the USAF A-10C Thunderbolt II will be withdrawn from South Korea and at the end of 2025 it will be over. The type is at the end of its career and will gradually disappear to Davis Monthan for final storage.
Fortunately, Osan AB has scheduled the Air Power Days in May 2025 where we can see the A-10s up close one last time. American A-10s, F-16s and U-2s call this base home.
The week before, MCAS Iwakuni in Japan organises its annual Friendship Day and these two events can be combined very nicely. A complete US Navy air wing is stationed at Iwakuni as well as USMC F/A-18s and/or F-35Bs that are forward deployed here. And of course the unique Japanese flying boat US-2 and special operations P-3s, as well as the entire CH-101 helicopter fleet.
All in all a great opportunity to add to your collection of unique aircraft. In the intervening days we want to explore the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, where Kanoya (Navy P-1, H-60 & H-135), Nyutabaru (F-15s), Tsuiki AB (F-2s) and several other air bases of all branches of the armed forces can be found.
The tour will last approximately from 2 to 12 May 2025.
