In May 2025, we will organise a tour to Japan for the 3rd time, which will not only focus on visiting different air bases, but we will also visit several book and model shops specialising in aviation.  On top of that, we plan to visit the immense Shizuoka Hobby Show 2025.

Japan is of course a big producer of high-quality books and models, many you won’t come across in the rest of the world. Our experienced tour guide knows all the places near the bases and all the streets where these shops are located.

Itinerary

The itinerary that follows is to be considered as preliminary.

We will fly to Japan on Saturday 10 May 2025 and return to the Netherlands on Friday 23 May 2025.

The plan at this moment is as follows:

After departing on Saturday 10 May, we will arrive at Tokyo on Sunday 11 May. After collecting our van, we will drive a short distance to check in for the night.

For Monday 12 May we have scheduled to buy our step ladders, spend some time at NAF Atsugi and enjoy a confirmed visit to the Tamiya HQ.

On Tuesday 13 May we have a confirmed visit to the Hasegawa HQ and visit the Surugaya Flagship shop. We will further visit Shizuhama Air Base (from the outside, this goes for all bases we visit) and a Hobby Post shop before moving towards Hamamatsu.

The next day, Wednesday 14 May, we will visit Komaki Air Base, the Aichi Museum of Flight, the Alice Hobby Promodel Shop, the and the Komaki TamTam Shop.

Gifu Air Base and the Kakamigahara Museum are scheduled for Thursday 15 May. On the same day, we will visit a Joshin Shop and the Gifu TamTam Shop.

On Friday 16 May we will spend time visiting Hamamatsu Air Base and the Hamamatsu Museum (Hamamatsu Air Park).

Saturday (17 May) and Sunday (18 May) are fully dedicated to visiting the Shizuoka Hobby Show.

On Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 May we will visit Iruma Air Base, as well as the Hasegawa Hobby Shop, the Bad Company Shop, the Keystone Shop, the Ten (Tamiya) Shop and spend a little time at Hyakuri Air Base (before staying there for the night).

Wednesday 21 May is the day we will spend at Hyakuri Air Base.

For Thursday 22 May we have large number of shops scheduled; Yodabashi shop, Leonardo 1 and 2 shops, TamTam Akihabara shop, Yellow Submarine shop, Volks shop, Shosen Book Tower shop and Sunny Hobby shop.

On Friday 23 May we end our stay in Japan and fly back to the Netherlands.

Tour cost

Price for this tour is € 3499,- per person. This price includes:

  • Flight from The Netherlands to Japan
  • Flight from Japan to The Netherlands
  • Hotel accommodation (middle class hotels, twin share room basis, two beds and ensuite bathroom)
  • All transportation in Japan
  • € 9,- contribution to GGTO

You can also book this tour without the airline tickets. In that case you will have to take care of the transportation to and from Japan. The price for the tour without airline tickets is € 2199,- per person. The single-room supplement for this tour is € 350,-.

Not included:

  • individual travel insurance
  • entrance fees for museums or airshows
  • all meals
  • all personal expenditures
