4Aviation has visited Greece during the annual open days that take place in November. Twelve enthusiastic passengers and two experienced tour guides departed on 7 November 2008, from the international airport of Dusseldorf for a direct flight to Thessaloniki. Because of a last minute approval from the Hellenic army, we were also allowed to visit two of their bases, we had to reschedule our route.
After a couple Wreck & Relics in the dark, the real work began Saturday, November 8. That day the bases opened at 13.00hr, so we had to hurry. Therefore we viewed Tanagra from the outside, as there was only a small static. Then quickly to Dekelia-Tatoi which had a big static and of course the Greek Air Force museum. We also did not forget the active line with T-41’s, Dromaders and Agcats. Close by is Elefsis and we arrived there late fairly late. The advantage was that it was quiet and the light on their aircraft was very good, thus making beautiful pictures was easy.
