Part of the group met on Saturday evening, 31 August 2024, in a hotel near the Egypt Air Force Museum near Almaza airport. On Sunday morning 1 September 2024, we walked there, as it was very close, and access was no problem at all. Because we were a bit early, we had to wait on the terrace of the restaurant in the lovely sunshine, with a view of the collection. The aircraft were all well painted and most of them could be captured well on photo. An Mi-6 was opened to take a look inside. There were two aircraft in very good condition in the building, a MiG-21 and an HA-300. After this visit, we went back to the hotel to check out and there a van was waiting for us, which we had rented for a few hours.
The next stop was at the 6th of October Panorama museum. Initially, we wanted to only photograph the few aircraft here and then move on, but things turned out a bit differently. The museum manager had made us enthusiastic to see a bit more of the museum and also to see the impressive spectacle in a panoramic Mesdag-like environment. The English-language films had also been brought out especially for us, all very interesting.
The last aircraft stop was the Egyptian National Military Museum in the Citadel. In this collection of buildings there are various museums, you have a very nice view over the city and there are also several aircraft outside, what more could you want?
After we had walked around here, we headed for our hotel for tonight, it was located at the foot of the world-famous pyramids and from the roof terrace you had a great view of these ancient buildings.
