On 24 May 2014, 4Aviation made its third trip by bus to the bi-annual ILA in Berlin. The first of 50 participants to this trip were picked up on Friday evening (23 May). After an uneventful trip the group arrived well in time for the 9 AM opening of the show. The bus driver then went to his hotel to rest.
The Internationale Luft- und Raumfahrtausstellung (ILA) is a large aviation fair with civilian and military participants and can be compared to the shows at Paris Le Bourget and Farnborough. We visited the show on the public Saturday, following the trade days. Highlights in the show were the Turkish participants, such as the Solo Turk F-16, 2 F-4 Phantoms and the T129 ATAK helicopter. Similar to previous editions, the United States forces sent a large delegation, with the UH-72 and A-10 being the highlights. In the flying program traditionally a large number of historical aircraft flew, such as the Me-262, DC-6 and Red Bull AH-1. The Israeli delegation that was announced unfortunately cancelled at the last moment.
After the show a quick and uneventful return trip followed, with the last passengers being dropped off early Sunday morning.
